Peer support only — not medical advice. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
✦ Start a circle

A community can begin with one table, two chairs, and a kind invitation.

Use this as a simple guide for creating local support circles: coffee meetups, gentle walks, caregiver check-ins, library conversations, or quiet creative nights.

7-step gentle meetup process

1Pick a simple purpose

Example: “quiet coffee for caregivers” or “walk-and-talk for chronic illness support.”

2Choose a public, calm place

Libraries, parks, cafes, community rooms, or quiet bookstore corners work well.

3Set comfort rules

No forced sharing, no medical advice, no selling, no judgement, and privacy stays respected.

4Create the event

Post the date, time, location, accessibility notes, and who the circle is for.

5Start with a soft opener

Try: “One thing I’m carrying today is…” or “One thing I’m grateful for is…”

6Keep it small at first

Three to eight people is enough. The goal is safety, not size.

7Close with care

End with resources, next steps, and an invitation to return without pressure.

Invite message template

“Hi, I’m starting a gentle support circle for people who understand what it’s like to face illness or caregiving. No pressure to share. Just coffee, kindness, and a safe place to breathe. You’re welcome to join.”

Host reminder

You are not responsible for fixing everyone. You are helping create a safe room where people can feel less alone.
